Job Vacancy: Part-Time Bookseller

We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as a Bookseller at our bookshop. This part-time position offers a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves books and is eager to share that enthusiasm with others.

Position Details:
- Job Title: Bookseller
- Hours: Saturdays, 8:45 am – 3:15 pm (6.5 hours) plus weekday cover as needed.
- Pay: £12/hour
- Location: On-site at our bookshop
- Closing Date for Applications: 31/12/24

Essential Qualities:

Please ensure you meet the following criteria before applying:

Flexibility:
- Ability to pick up shifts during the week.
- Willingness to cover colleague holidays and off-site events, such as school assemblies or book fairs. Depending on the candidate’s suitability, involvement in these events could become a regular part of the role.

Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Gmail, and general confidence in adapting to new operating systems. Most tasks involve using our internal computerised systems or working online.

Retail Experience:
- Previous customer-facing retail experience is essential. The role requires the ability to work independently, including confidently handling customer interactions.

Desirable Qualities:
While not essential, the following qualities are highly desirable:

- Ability to multi-task effectively.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Comfort working under time pressure.

Job Description:
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

- Maintaining and organizing shelf displays.
- Ensuring the shop is clean and tidy.
- Providing excellent customer service through face-to-face interactions.
- Handling email and phone correspondence.
- Recommending books and assisting customers in making selections.
- Writing book reviews for promotional purposes.
- Cash handling and processing transactions.
- Opening and closing the shop (key-holding responsibilities).
