On Thursday 3rd July, we were thrilled to welcome bestselling crime author M.J. Arlidge for a very special event to mark the release of his novel, Into the Fire — the latest gripping instalment in the DI Helen Grace series.
Chairs were set, the books were stacked, and there was a palpable buzz in the air — the kind that only comes when readers gather to celebrate an author whose stories they’ve lived with, puzzled over, and been utterly enthralled by.
From the very start, Matt was engaging and generous with his thoughts, drawing everyone into the world behind the pages. He spoke openly about the writing process, the evolution of DI Helen Grace over the years, and the challenges — and joys — of crafting crime fiction that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
After the talk, Matthew took the time to chat with every guest, signed his books, and posed for photos. It was clear how much it meant to those in attendance — many of whom have followed DI Grace since her very first case in Eeny Meeny.
